Press Conference, July 28, 2010, MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY ASSOCIATION FILL THE BOOT 2010 CAMPAIGN

A press conference will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 in the Atrium of the M. L. K. City Government Building, 10 N. Second Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Mayor Linda D. Thompson announced today that the City of Harrisburg through its IAFF Local 428 and members of the Harrisburg Fire Department will participate in Muscular Dystrophy Association’s “Fill the Boot Campaign”. This campaign, slated for Friday, July 30, August 9th, August 11th, and August 13th, is to raise donations to support children and adults with neuromuscular diseases in the Harrisburg Area. read more...

Mayor Linda Thompson's Response to Miller's "Plan"

“While the Administration genuinely welcomes Mr. Miller's ideas to help steer Harrisburg toward fiscal stability, his Plan has various holes and some unrealistic expectations, not the least of which suggests that Dauphin County assume 100% of control of the Incinerator and its finances. However, the Administration is pleased to note that Mr. Miller's Plan recognizes the Administration's wisdom in considering Chapter 9 Bankruptcy as the LAST of various options to achieve manageable debt service levels and future fiscal stability, not the ONLY option as he previously publicly prescribed.” read more...

Customers of The Harrisburg Authority, The City of Harrisburg, Bureau of Water were notified on 7/1/10 of a problem with our drinking water at 600-634 S. 24th Street, and were advised to “BOIL YOUR WATER BEFORE USING”. We are pleased to report that the problem has been corrected and that it is no longer necessary to “BOIL YOUR WATER BEFORE USING”. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
