December 31, 2002 — Higher Costs, Lower Investment Earnings Force City Water Rate Increase For 2003; Average Bill To Go Up $2.79 A Month
Rising liability and employee costs, coupled with lower interest rate earnings over the past year, will cause a 12% increase in rates charged to customers of the Harrisburg Water System, Harrisburg Authority Board Chairman Trent Hargrove today reported. The rate increase goes into effect on January 1st and affects both residential and commercial customers served by the city water system.

December 18, 2002 — City’s Official Website www.harrisburgcity.com Now Live
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that the City of Harrisburg’s official World Wide Web site at www.harrisburgcity.com is now live and available to the general public. The new ADA accessible website provides an array of information about city government activities, and in coming months will offer online permitting, licensing, and bill payment services.

December 16, 2002 — City Holiday Decorating Contest Winners Announced
An array of businesses, residential properties, children and city government center offices were recognized today by Mayor Stephen R. Reed as winners in various city holiday decorating contests. The winners were presented with their awards during a special holiday program in their honor at the Rev. Dr. M.L. King City Government Center. The decorating competitions were first created by the Mayor in 1995, to coincide with the city’s annual Holiday Parade, which annually kicks of the midstate’s Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwaanza/New Years season.
