Mayor Dedicates $6.8 Million In Renovations, New Construction At Lincoln K-8 School; New Classrooms, Cafeteria, Library And More Set For September Opening
Harrisburg K-8 grade students attending the Lincoln School will have a new state-of-the-art facility to return to this Fall, as Mayor Stephen R. Reed announced today during dedication services for the newly rehabilitated school at 1601 State Street. The 65,495 sq. ft. restoration effort, which also included 16,780 sq. ft. of new construction, cost a total of $6.8 million and includes new classrooms, cafeteria, library, utility and life-safety systems, and much more.

All Invited To Largest Ever American Musicfest Set For July 3-6 Along Waterfront; Over 175 Hours Of Live Music Set For 4-Day Celebration, Capped By Region’s Largest Fireworks Display On Sunday, July 6
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today invited residents and visitors from throughout the Mid-Atlantic United States to the City of Harrisburg’s American Musicfest, set for July 3-6 along the city’s idyllic waterfront. The American MusicFest is the largest Fourth of July Commemoration in Central Pennsylvania, hosting over 175 hours of live musical entertainment with more than 80 bands and theatrical performances, making it the state’s largest Independence Weekend Music Festival. With eight stages on Riverfront Park, City Island and downtown, music from local, regional, national, and international artists and performers will fill the weekend.

City & United Water PA Company Sign Water Sales Agreement; UWPA To Purchase Up To 5 Million Gallons Per Day As Needed
Mayor Stephen R. Reed and United Water Pennsylvania(UWPA) Inc. General Manager and Vice President John D. Hollenbach today announced that the Harrisburg and United Water systems have finalized an agreement that will enable the company to purchase up to 12 million gallons of water per day during an emergency from the Harrisburg Water System, and up to 5 million gallons per day under other circumstances.

Groundbreaking Ceremonies Held For New 18-Story Market Square Plaza Office Tower
Harrisburg’s Market Square will soon host another signature office tower as Mayor Stephen R. Reed and officials from Market Square Plaza LLC today conducted groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Market Square Plaza office tower at 17 N. Second Street. Site work for the 18-story, 311,276 sq. ft. tower, which will be a major addition to the city skyline, will get underway this month and completion is expected sometime in early 2005.

Red Door Wine Bar Opens On Restaurant Row
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today conducted ribbon cutting services for the newly opened Red Door wine bar at 110 N. Second Street. The distinctive new Restaurant Row attraction features one of the midstate’s most extensive selection of wines, and will also offer light ala carte appetizers, or tapas, made in the adjoining kitchen of Zia’s Trattoria next door.

City To Begin Water System Flushing This Weekend, Continue Through June
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that the City of Harrisburg will begin its annual water system flushing this coming Sunday, June 8, and continue until the end of the month. The annual maintenance task may result in some discolored water or low-pressure problems in areas where the flushing is occurring, and customers can alleviate the problem by leaving their water run for a few minutes before using.

Major League Soccer Prospects For Harrisburg Still Alive
