Tens Of Thousands Of Crackpipes Confiscated From City Convenience Markets & Stores
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today reported that more than 25,000 crackpipes and related paraphernalia were confiscated from 42 city convenience and neighborhood stores during a citywide raid conducted last Friday. The raids were the result of an intensive undercover investigation conducted over the past month by city police, in response to neighborhood complaints about the illegal sales. Charges are pending against the owners of the properties raided.

West Nile Virus Spraying Slated For City On Tuesday, Aug. 19
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that West Nile Virus spraying will begin in the city on Tuesday, August 19. The effort is designed to eradicate the breeding areas for the mosquitoes that carry the disease.

High-Speed Wireless Internet Access Services Now Available In Areas Of Downtown; Planning Underway For Future Citywide Expansion
Mayor Stephen R. Reed and WIRELESS INFOTECH® LLC President and Chief Executive Officer Todd Snyder today announced that high-speed wireless Internet access services are now available in most of downtown, thanks to the joint efforts of the city and WIRELESS INFOTECH® LLC. The state-of-the-art wireless information technology (IT) service is now available in downtown Harrisburg in the Market Square, Restaurant Row and Capitol Complex areas of the city, with plans to expand the service citywide now moving forward.

Vietmanese Delegation Visits Harrisburg
A Vietnamese delegation has been visiting the City of Harrisburg during the last two days in an effort to understand how the government and minority populations relate to one another. The visitors, representatives of government committees focused on minority relations and refugee and migrant group resettlement programs.

Hungry residents and visitors in Uptown Harrisburg have a distinctive new restaurant to satisfy their palates, Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced during grand opening ceremonies for Tater Harden’s City Grill. The unique, full-service restaurant is located at 2001 North Sixth Street, near the intersection of N. Sixth and Maclay Streets, and occupies space that had formerly housed a KFC Restaurant, which closed several years ago.
