Mayor Announces City Easter Egg Hunt—Set For Saturday, April 3, In Reservoir Park

Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that the City of Harrisburg’s popular annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 3, in Reservoir Park. Festivities, all of which are free and open to the public, begin at 9:00 a.m. and include multiple age-specific decorated egg hunts and visits with the Easter Bunny, a petting zoo, face painting, games, Police Mounted Units, Harrisburg High Cheerleaders and Cougar Mascot, and much more.

Harrisburg Cougar Girls Basketball Team To Be Honored With City Parade Tomorrow

Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that a special parade to honor the members of the champion Harrisburg High School Girls Basketball Team will be held tomorrow, Friday, March 26, beginning at Noon from John Harris. The District Champions and state championship runner-ups will be transported on city fire trucks, a tradition begun by the Mayor when the boy’s basketball team won the state championship several years ago.

Hgb. School District Offers Free Adult Computer Education Classes To City Residents

Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that the Harrisburg School District will be offering a series of free computer education classes for adult city residents beginning April 19 and continuing through May 19. Interested city residents should register for the program immediately as limited class space is available. The classes will be conducted by the Harrisburg School District and is part of the Mayor’s plans to expand adult educational services in the city.

City of Harrisburg—Notice of Hydrant Flushing

The City of Harrisburg, Bureau of Water will be conducting their annual flushing of the distribution system, beginning Monday, April 26, 2004 and will proceed until completed. The purpose of flushing the system is to improve the quality of water delivered to you, our customer, as well as to ensure that the fire hydrant protecting your home is in proper working condition. The flushing of hydrants will be between the hours of 7:00 P.M. and 3:30 A.M. When crews are working in your area, water pressure may be reduced and the water may become discolored. All customers receiving water bills from The City of Harrisburg will be affected by this flushing; this includes some residents of Susquehanna Township and Penbrook Borough.

Reed today announced that the City of Harrisburg’s 6th Annual Black History Month Youth Performing Artist Showcase is set for Wednesday, March 17, at the Forum Building at Fifth and Walnut Streets in downtown. Two performances will be held, with the 7:30 p.m. evening presentation free and open to the public. A 9:00 a.m. performance, also free, is open only to city school students and senior citizens.

“We are deeply saddened at the passing from temporal life of Bishop Dattilo. He was a good and decent man, whose life was devoted to God’s work on Earth. He was a priest who brought zeal and a joyful heart to his ministry. We pray for him and the Diocese as the Bishop answers this final call of the Lord. Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said Harrisburg City Police are searching for suspects in the early morning shooting death of 14-year old William K. Jordan, whose body was found early this morning at the intersection of Monroe and Herr Streets. Jordan was killed by a single gunshot wound to the chest.
