EASTER EGG HUNT SET FOR SATURDAY, RAIN OR SHINEMayor Stephen R. Reed today invited city youngsters 10 years old and under to the city’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt, set for this Saturday, March 26. If the weather is good, the event takes place at Reservoir Park. In the event of rain, it moves to the Downey School at 1313 Monroe Street. Egg Hunt registration is from 9 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. The egg hunts take place at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. and are divided into three separate zones, based on a child’s age. Children 3 years old and under, 4 to 6 years old, and 7 to 10 years old with each having their own area to fan out to find the eggs. Reed said last year over 2,100 youth participated. The event also includes a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, games, visits and photos with the Easter Bunny, magic shows, police horse demonstrations, the city Fire Bureau smoke house display, and appearances by Spiderman, Sponge Bob, Winnie the Pooh, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, the Cookie Monster, and Park C. Squirrel, the mascot of the Harrisburg Parks Partnership, who will show youngsters how make a take-home garden. 1400 “The Touch” radio station will play music. A game of musical chairs will be hosted by Funky Chicken and Friends. Reed said the event is sponsored by the city with co-sponsors including Enterprize Rent-A-Car, Giant Foods, Middlesworth Potato Chips, Bishop McDevitt High School, Dauphin County Sheriff’s Dept., Turkey Hill Minit Markets, Harris-burg Parks Partnership, the city Police and Fire Bureaus, and the city Parks and Recreation Department, which also produces the popular annual event. “This is a family fun event and all city residents, especially children, are invited. Everything is free, except for the photos with the Easter Bunny, which are $5.00 each. |
