MAYOR REED ANNOUNCES NEW MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION OFFICE AND NEW CONSULTING FIRM

Mayor Stephen R. Reed and the Strawberry Square Development Corporation announced today the move of Probity Medical Transcription Company into the City and the opening of the SMART Business Advisory and Consulting firm in Strawberry Square.

Probity, a former Cumberland County based medical transcription and document management firm, has now relocated to a 5000 square foot suite in Strawberry Square overlooking the Capitol complex. Cutting edge technology combined with a streamlined web-based system allows Probity to deliver health care information to the medical world quickly and efficiently.

Probity offers a simple, cost-effective remedy to outsourcing medical transcription by providing adaptable solutions customized to meet the needs of health care providers.

“Probity’s investment in leased office space here in downtown Harrisburg further cements the city’s strong growth in the technology and medical fields,” said Mayor Reed.

The new office in Strawberry Square houses 14 employees from medical transcriptionists to operations managers. Growth to over 40 in-office employees is planned. Probity has more than 100 employees in the field. A call center for client support and an off-hour answering service will also be available through the office.

With such a prime location, exponential job growth and revenue have been enjoyed by the company, said owner David Plummer.

“Being here centralizes us where we can attract new employees from both the East and West Shores, as well as South and North of Harrisburg,” said Plummer. “It’s easy access for clients and employees to come in for a myriad of different purposes.”

The medical company services heathcare systems, hospitals, physician groups, as well as other medical departments ranging from radiology to outpatient surgery.

Reed said, another new tenant on the second floor of Strawberry Square, SMART Business Advisory and Consulting LLC, is a highly recognized international business advisory and consulting firm. As the 25th largest accounting firm in the U.S. according to Accounting Today, SMART offers a wide range of consulting, financial and tax services. The new office will serve as support for its government practice in Pennsylvania and other states and the Federal Government. The Harrisburg branch joins SMART’s other two offices in the commonwealth, located in Philadelphia and Devon, PA.

Working in both the commercial and public sectors, SMART aids in the design and development of projects for state agencies, cities and counties. Recent clients include the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Dickinson College, Dentspy and the Pennsylvania School Business Officials Association. This highly recognized firm also provides management oversight and technical assistance to their wide range of clients.

SMART offers great economic promise for the Harrisburg area, as it employs over 370 professionals based in Pennsylvania--- all of which are located within 90 minutes of downtown. In addition, the firm has created over 140 full-time jobs in the state in the last 2 ¾ years. Ten employees currently work out of the Strawberry Square office.

Probity and SMART will collectively occupy nearly 10,000 square feet of adjacent space in Strawberry Square.
