TWO ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH LARGE DRUG SHIPMENT
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that Harrisburg City Police have arrested two suspects on multiple drug, gun, assault, and stalking charges in connection with the receipt of a mailed package containing drugs. Mayor Reed said that on Friday, October 19, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Harrisburg Police received information from U.S. Postal Inspectors that a package of suspected marijuana was delivered to a business in the 1800 block of Paxton Street. Police received reports that two men were closely watching the business. When detectives responded to investigate, the two men fled the area by car. Units conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and detained the two men who were then positively identified as the individuals who received the drug package. The confiscated package, later found to contain between 25 and 30 pounds of marijuana, originated from a Mexican border town in Texas. Reed said that Reginald Jerane Gadsden, 31, of the 4000 block of Rawleigh Street in Swatara Twp., as well as Brian Reynard Gadsden, 23, of the 300 block of Lake Shore Drive in Warner Robbins, Georgia, were both arrested and charged with multiple crimes. The charges include one count each of carrying a firearm without a license as well as possession of a controlled substance, along with two counts each of simple assault and stalking. Reed said that each of the individuals would also face multiple conspiracy charges, as well. Mayor Reed said both suspects have been remanded to Dauphin County Prison. Reginald Gadsden’s bail was set at $150,000.00 and Brian Gadsden’s bail was set at $250,000.00. Reed said, “This is an example of the interstate and international nature of the drug trade as it exists even in our region. These are major drug dealers, neither of whom live in the city, but bring to this community their insidious and dangerous products, all for personal financial gain. It will be our recommendation that they receive the maximum penalty.”
