ARRESTS MADE IN RECENT UNRELATED ROBBERY AND BURGLARY CRIMES
Harrisburg, PA Mayor Stephen R. Reed today reported that multiple persons have been arrested on charges related to several unrelated robberies and burglaries.
Reed said Harrisburg Police have arrested Darrell E. Taylor, 54, of the 2400 block of Market Street, in connection with the attempted robbery of the PNC Bank branch within the Giant store at Kline Village. The Mayor said Taylor entered the PNC bank around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, January 6. He proceeded to tell a bank employee that he had a weapon and then demanded money. As Taylor left the bank branch, he was chased and detained by a security officer and a civilian witness. Once Harrisburg Police arrived on the scene, Taylor was taken into custody.
Reed also said Harrisburg Police have separately arrested two individuals in connection with a robbery that occurred in the 400 block of S. 15th Street. Police have arrested Felix J. Rivera, 29, of the 1900 block of Boas Street, and Jorge Collazo-Ruiz, 26, of the 1400 block of Berryhill Street, and have charged each of them with robbery.
The Mayor said officers responded to the location at 11:15 p.m. on Friday, January 4, and were directed to the third floor of the building as the robbery was in progress. Harrisburg Police apprehended both of the suspects on location. Each was remanded to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting bail.
Reed said Harrisburg Police have also arrested Eric C. Palmer, 45, of no fixed address, in connection with a burglary in the area of S. 18th and Holly Streets around 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, January 5. Officers arrived on scene and heard noises from inside the address in question. Officers entered the building and identified Palmer in the act of stealing copper piping. Palmer was arrested and was charged with burglary and possessing instruments of a crime.
Police also arrested Charles W. Harris, 50, of the 1200 block of N. 15th Street, in connection with a burglary that occurred in the 900 block of N. 16th Street on Wednesday, January 2. Officers responded to the location after concerned neighbors reported hearing sawing noises from within the residence. Upon arrival, officers caught Harris as he attempted to flee the residence. An investigation led officers to believe Harris was attempting to steal copper piping from the residence. He was arrested for that incident.
Reed said that upon interview with detectives, Harris also admitted to at least three other similar burglaries within the City in recent months. An investigation continues to see if Harris was involved in other burglaries in the area.
