HARRISBURG POLICE MAKE MULTIPLE ARRESTS IN UNRELATED CRIMES
Harrisburg, PA Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that Harrisburg Police yesterday arrested three individuals associated with three unrelated crimes.
Reed said Harrisburg Police arrested two more juveniles in connection with an incident on Sunday, March 23, 2008, at 6:37 p.m., when several male juveniles fired a weapon into a crowd of people in the area of 16 Row Hall Manor. An initial arrest of one juvenile male was made on Thursday, March 27, 2008, on Cloverly Road. That juvenile was charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, several firearms violations, and recklessly endangering the welfare of another person.
Further investigation by detectives identified another juvenile male that was involved in the shooting. On Tuesday, April 1, 2008, the second juvenile was located and was charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, several firearms violations, and recklessly endangering the welfare of another person.
It was also learned through the investigation that there was a third juvenile male involved in the shooting that was home on a weekend pass from a Juvenile Detention Center in Lancaster County when the shooting occurred. He will be charged with simple assault and conspiracy to commit simple assault and will remain in the Lancaster County Detention Center.
Reed also said that Jose L. Rodriguez, 45, of Harrisburg, was separately arrested for his involvement in a robbery that occurred on October 16, 2007, at 7:40 p.m. in the area of Derry and Kittatinny Streets. At that time, a victim was approached by Rodriguez as the victim attempted to enter his own car. Rodriguez assaulted and robbed the victim, stealing $30.00 in cash, a wallet, and a passport.
Rodriguez has been charged with one count of robbery and has been remanded to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting bail.
Reed also said that Yahimba Cooper, 27, of Harrisburg, was separately arrested for her involvement in a domestic assault that occurred on Tuesday, April 2, 2008, at 4:10 p.m. in the 2500 block of N. 6th Street.
An officer on patrol in the area was flagged down by an individual who was assisting the victim of the assault. Police identified that the victim was bleeding profusely from the head. An immediate investigation led officers to realize that Cooper had struck the victim in the head with a glass bottle, causing multiple lacerations to the victim. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment of those injuries.
Reed said Cooper has been charged with aggravated assault and has been remanded to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting bail.
