MULTIPLE ARRESTS MADE IN ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE AND BURGLARY CRIMES
Harrisburg, PA Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that the Harrisburg Bureau of Police has made multiple arrests in connection with an attempted homicide and an unrelated burglary.
Reed said Timothy McRae, 41, of the 1000 block of North 15th Street, was taken into custody on May 29th, 2008, in the area of N. 15th and Zarker Streets. He has been charged with criminal attempt homicide, robbery, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with the beating of a 63-year-old City resident.
The Mayor said police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Vernon Street on May 27, 2008, at 10:07 p.m. for a report of a male having struck another male with a brick. Upon arrival, police found that the victim had been savagely beaten about the head and body and was lying unconscious on the ground. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in good condition.
Reed said McRae has been remanded to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting bail.
The Mayor also said that two male juveniles, ages 11 and 12, from the 1800 block of Bellevue Road, were separately arrested by patrol officers after a burglary incident that occurred on May 29, 2008, around 7:38 p.m.
Reed said that police were called to the 600 block of South 17th Street at that time for a report of a burglary at a warehouse. While the victim was waiting for police arrival, he heard the sound of breaking glass. He then noticed two juveniles attempting to enter another building. He yelled at the juveniles who immediately fled the area.
Officers then responded to the juveniles home where they were able to recover stolen property from the warehouse. A short time later, the juveniles were observed back at the burglary scene and were arrested.
Each of the juveniles has been charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary and each has been detained at the Schaffner Detention Center. Police are currently investigating other burglaries with which the juveniles may have been involved.
