FIVE JUVENILES ARRESTED IN ATTEMPTED ROBBERY OF PIZZA DELIVERY PERSON

Harrisburg, PA – Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that Harrisburg Police arrested five juveniles last night after the attempted robbery of a pizza delivery person in the 1900 block of Briggs Street.

Reed said the incident, which occurred around 10:35 p.m., began when a local Domino’s Pizza store received a phone call for a delivery to the Briggs Street location. Employees recognized the phone number from a delivery attempt that had occurred the night before which was called off after the delivery person felt he was in danger of being robbed.

Reed said several employees from the pizza shop called Harrisburg Police to inform them of last night’s delivery order. When the delivery was made last night, a Harrisburg Police officer was posed undercover as a pizza delivery person. The targeted delivery area was already saturated with uniformed police and probation officers prior to the delivery attempt.

Upon attempting to make the delivery, five juvenile males tried to rob the undercover officer. One of the juveniles was in possession of a BB gun to be used in the robbery. All five juveniles immediately fled the area upon the realization that the delivery person was an undercover officer. Uniformed officers quickly apprehended each of the juveniles after brief chases.

Reed said each of the juveniles, ranging from 14 to 15 years of age, were arrested and charged with criminal attempt robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. Each has been remanded to the Schaffner Detention Center.
