Harrisburg, PA Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that Harrisburg Police have arrested an individual in connection with a sexual assault that occurred on Thursday, June 5, 2008, around 11:45 p.m.
Reed said police have arrested William Geovanny Abreu, 32, of no confirmed address, in connection with the incident.
The Mayor said Harrisburg Police were dispatched to the 900 block of S. 21st Street for what initially came in as a weapons call. The victim was then able to convince Abreu to take her to her residence. Abreu took her there and soon left. The victim then called the police.
At around 4:00 a.m., Harrisburg Police officers traveled to the Fairview Motel to process the crime scene. There, they found Abreus vehicle. At 4:48 a.m., the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team was activated to assist in apprehending Abreu. At 6:00 a.m., Abreu was taken into custody without incident. A firearm was recovered in his hotel room.
