ARREST MADE IN WEEKEND SHOOTING

Harrisburg, PA – Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that one individual has been arrested in connection with a weekend shooting that occurred around 3:10 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2008, in the 1100 block of Cloverly Road in the City’s Allison Hill neighborhood.

The Mayor said Harrisburg Police have arrested Miguel Lozada, 21, of the 1100 block of Cloverly Road, in connection with the shooting.

Reed said officers were responding to a call in the area when they discovered a Jeep sitting at Cameron and Paxton Streets with a victim passed out as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, Charles Powers, 38, of Lebanon County, was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. He is expected to recover.

The Mayor said that a thorough investigation revealed that the shooting actually occurred in the 1100 block of Cloverly Road. Interviews and an investigation of the area led police to make the arrest.

Reed said Lozada has been charged with one count each of criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault and multiple firearms violations. He has been remanded to Dauphin County Prison.
