TWO ARRESTS MADE IN SEPARATE ASSAULT AND DRUG-RELATED CRIMES

Harrisburg, PA – Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that two individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with separate assault and drug-related crimes.

Reed said Sean I. Smith, 43, of the 1600 block of Herr Street, was arrested on June 20, 2008, and was charged in connection with an incident that occurred on Sunday, June 15, 2008, at 11:35 p.m. in the 1600 block of Herr Street.

The Mayor said police were dispatched to the area in reference to a domestic assault. Upon arrival, police interviewed the victim who indicated that she had gotten into an argument with Smith. When the argument escalated, Smith attempted to stab the victim multiple times with a pair of scissors.

Reed said Smith has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for his involvement in the incident. He was remanded to Dauphin County Prison but was later released on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

Reed also said Richard T. Adair, 35, of the 300 block of S. 29th Street, was arrested in connection with an incident that occurred on Monday, June 23, 2008, at 3:06 a.m. in the area of the 40 Row Hall Manor.

Reed said several officers were on foot patrol in the area when they noticed Adair interacting with another male in the vicinity. As police approached him, he tried to run into an apartment in the 38 Row Hall Manor. When asked by police to stop, Adair threw an item he was holding to the ground. Police then detained him while they investigated the area.

Upon investigation, police determined that Adair had thrown crack cocaine on the ground as he attempted to enter the house. Adair was then arrested and was charged with possession of crack cocaine with the intent to deliver and with tampering with physical evidence. He has been remanded to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting bail.
