FIVE ARRESTS MADE IN CONNECTION WITH FEBRUARY HOMICIDE
Harrisburg, PA Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that Harrisburg Police have arrested five individuals in connection with a homicide that occurred on Friday, February 29, 2008, at around 11:40 p.m. in the 1900 block of Walnut Street.
Reed said police were dispatched to the area on that date and arrived to find Mylik Young, 25, of the 1500 block of Berryhill Street, lying unresponsive inside his vehicle after having received at least one gunshot wound. Young was treated by medical services at the scene but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Five arrests resulted from the investigation of the incident, said Reed.
The Mayor said Harrisburg Police have arrested Michael R. Brown, 23, of the 1800 block of Chestnut Street, and Daniel R. Johnson, 19, of Philadelphia, PA, and have charged each of them with criminal homicide and criminal conspiracy to commit homicide in connection with the incident. Johnson has also been charged with multiple firearms violations. He was initially arrested in Philadelphia on a separate and unrelated homicide charge, and is, Reed said, "a classic example of the kind of habitual offenders out on the streets of this nation."
The Mayor also said Ricardo A. Antequera, 25, of the first block of N. 17th Street, was arrested for illegal transfer of a handgun in connection with the incident.
Reed said Santos Gutierrez, 28, also of the first block of N. 17th Street, was arrested for multiple firearms violations.
Reed additionally said Kendric L. Lewis, 35, also of the first block of N. 17th Street, was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution and false information stemming from the investigation of the incident.
The Mayor said that each of the individuals has been remanded to prison in lieu of posting bail.
