THREE ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH TWO WEEKEND ROBBERIES

Harrisburg, PA – Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that three individuals have been arrested – two of whom are juveniles – in connection with two weekend robberies, both of which occurred on the evening of Saturday, June 21, 2008.

Reed said the first incident occurred at 11:43 p.m. in the 200 block of N. River Street. Reed said officers were dispatched to the area and, upon arrival, learned that the victim had been assaulted. The victim was walking down the street when a black sport-utility vehicle pulled up beside him. A male exited the vehicle, assaulted the victim, and then fled in the vehicle when passersby began walking towards them. The victim received minor injuries in the incident.

Less than a half-hour later, at 11:11 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of N. 2nd and Union Streets for a report of a robbery. The victim of the incident reported that he was walking down the street when a black sport-utility vehicle pulled up beside him. Two males exited the vehicle, threw the victim to the ground, stomped on him and stole his wallet. The suspects then fled in the vehicle. The victim also received minor injuries in the incident.

Reed said that after an active and thorough investigation, Harrisburg Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the robberies. Arrested is Michael Duane Taylor, 18, of Lower Paxton Twp., who has been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery. He has been remanded to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting bail.

Reed also said two juveniles have been charged with two counts each of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. One of the juveniles is a 15-year-old from the 1400 block of Walnut Street and the other is a 15-year-old from the 800 block of N. 16th Street. Each has been remanded to the Schaffner Detention Center.

Reed said the investigation continues and that police are reviewing a linkage to other robberies in the area to the two juveniles.
