SEVEN MAJOR ARRESTS MADE IN MULTIPLE UNRELATED CRIMES

Harrisburg, PA – Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that Harrisburg Police made seven major arrests this past weekend in connection with multiple unrelated crimes.

Reed said Hameen A. Burrell, 31, of the 1000 block of N. 3rd Street, was arrested on Friday, July 25, at 7:10 p.m. in the area of N. 3rd and Sayford Streets, in connection with an incident that occurred on Sunday, July 20, around 9:17 p.m. Burrell is accused of having made threats against an individual seeking prosecution against him for a prior assault that had occurred. Upon identifying Burrell during routine patrols, police attempted to arrest him and a foot chase ensued. Burrell was quickly apprehended. He has been charged with intimidation of a victim, escape and criminal mischief and has been committed to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting $25,000.00 bail.

Reed said Ricky Sawyers, 20, of the 1900 block of Swatara Street, was arrested on Thursday, July 25, in connection with a robbery and shooting incident that occurred on Thursday, May 1, at around 5:00 p.m. at the playground of the Hall Manor complex. Sawyers has been charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy to engage in robbery, aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy to engage in aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, carrying a firearm without a license, persons not to possess/use firearms, and false identification to law enforcement. He was committed to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting $100,000.00 bail.

Reed said Howard A. Coaxum, 21, of the 1100 block of Mulberry Street, was arrested on Saturday, July 26, in connection with a burglary that occurred around 8:40 a.m. that day in the 16 Row Hall Manor. Coaxum broke into the residence of an acquaintance after an argument ensued between them. Coaxum has been charged with burglary, terroristic threats, and criminal mischief, in connection with the incident. He was released in lieu of $15,000.00 unsecured bail.

Reed said Thomas A. Barton, 38, of the 100 block of Herman Ave. in Lemoyne, and Marlon T. Holmes, 32, of the 400 block of Peffer Street, were both arrested on Saturday, July 26, in connection with an incident that occurred around 1:12 a.m. in the area of N. 3rd and Calder Streets. Police responded to the area for a report of two males that were arguing, each of whom reportedly had a gun. Police arrived and apprehended both of the males involved. Each of the individuals has been charged with former convict not to possess/own a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, resisting arrest, and public drunkenness. Two handguns were recovered during the incident. Both individuals were released after posting $15,000.00 bail.

Reed said Kyle A. Williams, 50, of the 2200 block of Jefferson Street, was arrested on Sunday, July 27, in connection with a burglary that occurred that day in the 1700 block of N. 7th Street. Responding officers investigated the scene and identified the burglar through the use of the building’s video surveillance footage. One of the officers noticed the suspected burglar traveling on a bicycle later that day and, after a positive identification, arrested him. Williams has been charged with burglary, criminal mischief and defiant trespass. He was remanded to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting $25,000.00 bail.

Reed said Fernando Rodriguez, 26, of the 1200 block of Mulberry Street, was arrested on Sunday, July 27, in connection with a reported stabbing incident that occurred around 2:18 a.m. on that block. Responding officers arrived to find a 13-year-old juvenile had been shot. An investigation indicated that Rodriguez and the juvenile were at a neighbor’s house when Rodriguez located a firearm and began to play with it. The firearm discharged and the juvenile was struck in the torso area. Rodriguez has subsequently been charged with aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person in connection with the incident. He has been remanded to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting $100,000.00 bail.
