POLICE CONTINUE INVESTIGATION OF ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT
Harrisburg, PA Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that Harrisburg Police are continuing to investigate an alleged sexual assault that occurred on Tuesday, July 22, at around 10:45 a.m. in the area of the 1200 block of Berryhill Street.
Reed said police yesterday sought to speak with Ricko Powell, 39, in connection with the alleged assault. Powell quickly turned himself into police. Upon questioning, it was deemed that Powell was incorrectly identified by the victim as the suspect in the sexual assault. Powell cooperated completely with police and was released after it was realized he was not involved in the incident.
Reed said police are still investigating the alleged assault and are still actively searching for a suspect. At this time, there are no specific suspects, but police are still searching for a black male, between 57 and 58, weighing around 200 pounds, with black hair in small braids and a gray moustache.
Anyone who knows an individual matching the description or with information on the alleged assault is asked to contact police at (717) 255-3131.
