ARTS ORGANIZATION ‘JUMP STREET’ MOVES TO NEW CITY HEADQUARTERS

Harrisburg, PA – Mayor Reed and other public officials today cut the ribbon to officially dedicate the new headquarters of Jump Street, the community service organization that employs the arts. The organization, which previously occupied the building at 1703 N. Front Street, has moved to a more spacious suite at 100 N. Cameron Street.

Reed said the new headquarters is 3,000 square feet that houses individual offices for five full-time and three part-time staff members. It also includes community space for rehearsals and arts-related classes, something that was not available at the old location. Jump Street is leasing the suite from building owners Dan Deitchman and Larry Hatter of West Shore Properties, Inc.

"We are pleased to today celebrate the expanded headquarters of the Jump Street organization," said Reed. "Jump Street has worked diligently over the years to support community and economic development through art and has changed the lives of many youth in the process."

Reed said Jump Street is a private, non-profit arts organization that has served the City of Harrisburg and all of Central Pennsylvania for over 20 years. Jump Street specializes in arts-based program development, consulting to artists and arts organizations, and community arts development. The organization provides a safe and encouraging atmosphere in which artists and students can experiment with differing forms of art.

Jump Street regularly works with local foundations, government agencies, non-governmental organizations and schools to facilitate their arts-related needs. Jump Street also provides internship opportunities for both high school and college students working towards arts-related degrees.
