CITY CHOSEN AS SITE FOR THE NATIONAL 2008 ‘WOMEN OF EXCELLENCE’ CONFERENCE
Harrisburg, PA – Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that the national 2008 ‘Women of Excellence’ Conference will be held at the Hilton Harrisburg & Towers in the downtown on Friday, July 18, and will run through Sunday, July 20, 2008.
Reed said the Conference will include nationally- and internationally-acclaimed authors Michelle McKinney Hammond and Pat Ashley, as well as Devi Titus, the founder of Virtue magazine.
Reed also said that Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter Marilyn McCoo will close out the weekend. McCoo is known for record hits including Up, Up and Away and Wedding Bell Blues. She will speak and perform during "An Evening with Marilyn McCoo" on Saturday, July 19th, at 7:00 p.m., in the Hilton.
McCoo will share her insights on being successful, maintaining a healthy life balance and staying grounded in the midst of the trials and temptations of life in Hollywood, said Reed. The intimate evening of reflection and music will highlight moments in her career that include television, stage and concert performances and will both bring back memories and will inspire the participants in both their personal and professional lives.
Reed said the Women of Excellence Conference has a tremendous history of hosting a multi-cultural group of women from across the nation and is known for its renowned presenters. He said the Conference enables its attendees to reflect on their purpose and access their power as women.
