HARRISBURG POLICE MAKE THREE ARRESTS, SEEK INFORMATION IN TWO OVERNIGHT INCIDENTS

Harrisburg, PA – Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that three additional firearms were confiscated in connection with three overnight arrests. He also indicated that police are seeking additional information in connection with two separate overnight incidents.

Reed said Harrisburg Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Curtain Street at 12:55 a.m. for a weapons call. Upon arrival, police learned that at least two males were handling and pointing handguns in the area. Witnesses told police that upon their arrival, the suspected individuals entered a nearby residence.

Police attempted to make contact with the occupants of the residence in question. Upon knocking on the front door, several individuals attempted to escape out the back door but quickly returned to within the residence. Three males soon exited the residence and were quickly identified by the complainant as the individuals with the weapons. Each of the individuals was detained. A search of the residence yielded three handguns, each of which was located on the roof outside a third-floor bedroom. Also located near the guns was a bag of crack cocaine.

As a result of the incident, police arrested each of the suspects involved. A 16-year-old male city resident was arrested, as well as Leroy Turner, 20, of the 2400 block of N. 6th Street, and Kwamain Bradley, 18, of the 2100 block of N. 6th Street. Each of the three individuals was charged with one count each of receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile was also charged with possession of a firearm by a minor. Turner was also charged with person not to possess a firearm. Bradley was also charged with driving with a suspended license.

The juvenile has been remanded to Schaffner Detention Center and both Turner and Bradley were remanded to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting bail.

Reed also said police are seeking information in connection with a robbery that occurred last night around 6:15 p.m. at a retail store in the 2900 block of N. 7th Street.

Arriving officers began interviewing the victim who stated that at around 3:30 p.m. that afternoon, a male and female had spent nearly a half hour shopping in his store but left without purchasing anything. At 4:30 p.m., the same individuals returned to the store. Several items were brought to the register for purchase by the female, and during the transaction, the male stepped behind the counter and pulled a handgun on the victim.

After a struggle, the victim was able to escape to the outside of the store, at which point the two individuals forced him back in and then left. It is unclear what items they may have taken with them at this time.

The victim described the suspects as a black male, brown-skinned, about 20 years old. He said the male was about 5’7’’ or 5’8’’ with a thin build, a clean-shaven and narrow face and short hair. He said the male was wearing a white t-shirt with print and dark pants. The victim described the other suspect as a black female, brown-skinned, between 18 and 20 years old. He said she was about 5’7’’ or 5’8’’ and was wearing a royal blue polo shirt, blue jeans, and slip-on shoes. He said she also had braided, highlighted hair that came below her shoulders.

Anyone who may know someone matching either of these descriptions is urged to confidentially contact Harrisburg Police at (717) 255-3131.

Responding officers located multiple shell casings in the area. A search of the area yielded property damage to several vehicles, but no injuries were reported. Police were unable to locate any witnesses at the time of the incident.
