HARRISBURG POLICE ANNOUNCE TWO SIGNIFICANT ARRESTS
Harrisburg, PA Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that Harrisburg Police made two significant arrests in connection with two unrelated incidents.
Reed said police arrested Edwin Antonio Rolon, 32, of no fixed address, in connection with an incident that occurred around 10:15 a.m. in the area of S. 17th and Derry Streets.
Reed said police were patrolling the area when an officer noticed two individuals exchange a power tool for money. When the individual who sold the power tool was approached by officers, he was searched, at which time drug paraphernalia was located on his person. The search also yielded additional power tools and construction supplies which, upon investigation, police learned were stolen during a separate incident in May 2008.
Rolon was charged with three counts of theft, one count of receiving stolen property, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was committed to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting bail.
Reed also said police separately arrested Dante C. Campbell, 20, of the 2500 block of Jefferson Street, in connection with an incident that occurred around 5:42 p.m. in the 2700 block of Green Street.
Reed said officers were dispatched to the area after receiving a call for an assault. Upon arrival, Campbell was detained by several officers and an assault victim was taken to a local hospital by arriving LifeTeam emergency workers.
An investigation indicated that Campbell became upset with an acquaintance and proceeded to smash a glass coffee table over the victims head. He then picked up a heavy glass ash tray and struck the victim several times. As the assault escalated, Campbell took a piece of jagged glass from the floor, held it up to the victims throat, and threatened to kill him. Campbell was then detained by neighbors who intervened until police arrived.
Campbell was charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, criminal mischief, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was committed to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting bail.
