SUSPECT ARRESTED BY HARRISBURG POLICE AFTER ROBBERY
Harrisburg, PA Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that Harrisburg Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery that occurred on Wednesday, September 3, at around 11:51 p.m. in the 700 block of N. 2nd Street.
Reed said Robert Boyd, 53, of the 1900 block of State Street, was arrested and charged with one count of robbery in connection with the incident. He has been remanded to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting bail for the alleged crime.
Reed said Harrisburg Police were called to the 700 block of N. 2nd Street just before midnight for a report of a robbery in progress. The first arriving officer located an individual matching the robbers description and quickly took him into custody. Additional officers soon arrived and investigated the incident.
Reed said both the suspect and the victim of the robbery had been walking down the street when Boyd asked the suspect for a small amount of cash. When the victim refused, Boyd knocked him to the ground and began to punch him about the head and face. During the altercation, Boyd removed the victims wallet, took the cash inside, threw the wallet back at the victim, and fled the area.
Boyd was also served with a warrant for aggravated assault in connection with a previous incident.
Anyone with additional information on this incident is urged to confidentially call Harrisburg Police at 255-3131.
